Top 5| Adult Fantasy Series I want to read

top51.jpg

Recently, I have been getting my self into adult fiction novels, specifically the adult fantasy genre. I bought and started the Night Angel Trilogy Omnibus by Brent Weeks and so far I am loving it. And last month I purchased (due to the beautiful cover) and devoured Circe by Madeline Miller. So I guess I’m starting to love the genre.

Aside from the aforementioned adult fantasy books, I have a few (I have narrowed it down to 5) I want to read!

1.The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin

19161852

Goodreads | Book Depository

Everyone is reading and raving about this series during the quarantine period and it is making me what to read it even more.  I saw an obscene amount of book talk regarding this book and I must – I MUST START IT AS SOON AS I CAN GET MY HANDS ON A COPY.

2. The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith

41961994

Goodreads | Book Depository

This is a fun book base on the premise. Although, some of the reviews are polarizing but still I want to read this. This book is about a library in hell (Yes, you read it right!) about books unfinished books.

3. The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty

Goodreads | Book Depository

This has been hyped up by most of my favorite booktubers and I trust their opinions so consider this added to my top fantasy books I wanna get into.

P.S. Already ordered my copies of the first two books. Can’t wait!

4. The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

45047384._SY475_

Goodreads | Book Depository

This a story about a fantastical orphanage. And I have been into fantasy realism this year since finishing The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, I am excited to read about anything fantasy and cutesy stories about orphans.

5. The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

Goodreads | Book Depository

This has been in my to-be-read pile since 2015. I have a first edition copy in a hardbound format I bought for a very very low price. How lucky am I? Even with the interest in reading this and a copy on hand I still haven’t picked it up. Tell me what’s wrong with me?

Top 5| Series I need to catch up

top51

Seeing how little I have read the past year, I sure missed a lot of books I have been anticipating for 2019. My Goodreads to-be read aint moving either. What a sad reader life.

howdid.gif

In my defense, it was the final year of university and I have been busy and I was suffering the scariest reader affliction — Reading slump!

reading-slump

Here’s a very shameful list of series I haven’t caught up and is planning to catch up:

  1. An Ember in the Ashes Series by Sabaa Tahir

I have fallen in love with the series last 2016 and devoured the first two books, however for unknown reasons (my laziness and book slump)  I have not read the third book and now the fourth is coming out!!?! ? I need to get my life back on track.

2. Strange the Dreamer Duology by Laini Taylor

Laini Taylor is one of my favorite authors of all time. I loooooved the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and now I also feel the same with this duology. Thankfully, I have decided to finally finish this duology and am currently reading the second book!

3. Shattered Realms Series by Cinda Williams Chima

I — I have no other reason but laziness on why I haven’t caught up with this series. I bought the third book on a sale last year and up until now I still haven’t.STARTED.THE.BOOK! Yes, I am a shame to all Cinda Williams Chima stans. I apologize.

4. Red Rising Saga by Piere Brown

This will be the only series in this post which I have a very very very (!) legitimate reason for not catching up on it. I have finished the third and final book of what has been a trilogy (but no! the saga still continues) last year and Lord Jesus Christ and all the sci-fi author gods, finishing the first 3 books turned me to a husk of emotional human potato. I need to recover! I need time to mourn my favorite character.

5. Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I listened and enjoyed the first book last 2016 as an audiobook. I don’t know why I still did not read the other books.

There is no excuse for my incapacity as a reader. I just suck last 2019.

Books I wished had more books

top51.jpg

Hello blogosphere and welcome to another post for Top Ten Wednesday.  T5W is a meme hosted by Lainey and Sam.

This post is scheduled (my first ever post that is being scheduled :D), because I am off traveling back to university because I need to enroll myself early to avoid a stampede.

How enrollment* usually is at my university:

*normal enrollment schedule

20160602_ep609_Publicity_still_051.001540061-810x456.jpg

I must avoid getting piss-off by “enrollment marshalls” (basically all those kids who enrolled at Reserve Officers Training Class and to avoid pissing them too with my constant yammering of mismanagement on their part.

So anyway…

For today’s Top 5 is about standalone books I wish had a sequel. However, I  hardly read stand alones and this topic is making my head hurt just by brainstorming and staring at my shelf and trying to come up with 5 books. So far from Day 1 of brainstorming all that happened was me sleeping through a storm the whole day. (That still counts as brainstorming).

But then on day 3 of the process of providing myself with materials to talk about in this post, I have decided to modify it a little for my convenience. So instead of talking only about stand alones, I also added few book series I wished had more books, just so I can make this list count up to 5 (Let’s be practical)

SO HERE ARE THE TOP 5 BOOKS I WISH HAD MORE BOOKS:

1.) Six of Crows Series by Leigh Bardugo (Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom)

I don’t understand why this glorious of a book will only be a duology. WHY!!explain this to me.

I need more Kaz+Inej, Jesper+Wylan, Nina+Matthias. MORE!

2.) Penryn and the End of Days Series by Susan Ee (Angelfall, World After, and End of Days)

This trilogy had all it’s readers pumped because it was announced to be a 5 book series originally (or was it 7?). So when everyone was anticipating the third book what they didn’t know was that they were also anticipating the final book. Susan Ee, you own us something. Though, I still was satisfied with the ending, but there is still a tiny part in my heart that longed for more Penryn and Rafe adventures.

If you haven’t read this trilogy: Read it. just do it

3.) Every YA Rainbow Rowell Book ever

Am I only one not entirely satisfied on how Rainbow Rowell’s books usually ends? Well except for Fangirl, I was happy with the ending. BUT I can’t speak the same for  Eleanor and Park, Carry On and even her short story for World Book Day – Kindred Spirits.

4.) Falling into Place by Amy Zhang

18163646.jpg

Last 2015, I have been on a fazed where the most of the books I have read were contemporary under topics of suicide and mental illnesses.
And so far from the books with that topic I have read, Amy Zhang’s Falling Into Place had made me want to know the main character’s story after she woke up. It would be nice to read a sequel.

(I also cried when I read this book, the feels~~)

My own posts that I actually like : A T5W Post

top5

No, this is not a shameless self-promo for my blog postsq, we are really required to write about our fave blog post for today’s Top 5 Wednesday!

I have only published few post compared to other blogs out there, since in my 3 years of blogging, I had unannounced hiatus for  at least 8 months because I don’t have time to blog during those years with me struggling to understand university life (plus the internet connection in my old dorm is as slow as a snail). However we are  required to write 5 and guess who’s gonna rebel again and only write four? Me!

1.) Book Reviews for Sarah J Maas perfections! I always find Sarah J Maas books fun to write a review for because:

(a.) My dislike with Chaol is the reason why some people are/will be stoning me to death right now                                                                                                                       (b.) Using inappropriate languages while reviewing is inevitable                                           (c.) Titling those reviews got me lmao everytime.

2.) The post I shamelessly insulted the Disney Princess. It wasn’t directly directed to them, I was just appreciating the Lunar Chronicles!

3.) The post where I chronicled the mishaps I have with bookstores and Customer’s Service.

4.) And my very first Binge Watch Post where I try to stomach the mess that was the Shadawohunters Series. If you are a fan of the television series, I am really sorry but it’s not really for me. I do have some issues with it as much as I have with the movie.
